This MyOilSite.com review hopes to provide as comprehensive a review as is possible. It aims to highlight its pros & cons. I talked with Michael, developer and graphic designer. He also has a couple of other developers on his team working the site. MyOilSite.com launch during the 2014 Build Your Dream Grand Int’l Convention. So it is one of the younger companies on the market.
MyOilSite has 3 pricing tiers. The Starter plan is Free, the Basic plan is $5/mon, and the Pro plan is $20/mon. So the average annualized cost is $136.50. However, Michael said they are considering getting rid of the free tier because it doesn’t give the user the things that he wants to provide. Michael wants the website he offers to be a good place for you to tell your story (compliantly, of course). The Starter plan does not offer the ability for you to add your story. He also offers a quarterly ($13 and $55/qtr) and annual rate ($50 and $216/yr). Which ever payment period you select the first month is only $1 for the Professional plan. So while your first year would be a little cheaper, the total annualized cost is $216 or $240 if you just pay for it monthly. Also, you are able to add a personally owned domain for $20 which is totally worth it I think!
MyOilSite does not have a referral program or any other type of discount available.
Ease of Use:
The website is very easy to navigate. The website is built on WordPress so the back office it is also easy to navigate. One very nice page that Michael made is “Next Level Oils”. This page shows several oils and other products that are great things to get after you have your kit.
One very unique service that Michael offers is coloring the website with your team colors. Basically, you submit your team colors to him and he builds a theme for your site based on those colors. He then makes that theme available for you to select. One downside is that those are not exclusive, so the colors are made available to everybody.
MyOilSite is expanding to the Australian and Canadian markets in the near future.
Michael and his team do a good job of keeping the website up-to-date. The new Premium Start Kit is currently available, however only a very short mention of the flex oils is present. I think the explanation of the flex oils should be expanded. Also, the only mention of a diffuser option is saying that the retail value of the diffuser you select will vary. I think a better explanation is warranted. In fact, a separate page might be best for highlighting the differences.
While by default you have a 3rd level domain (e.g. example.myoilsite.com), as mentioned above, for an additional $20 you can have a personally owned domain assigned instead, which I would recommend.
The back office is built on WordPress. Like other such sites, it is a limited installation, so not much can be done.
MyOilSite provides a basic set of features. But Michael has a bunch plans for the future in how to enhance the website and provide better service to his customers.
- 5 different theme options
- Expanding to AUS and CAN
- Story is the primary focus, product is secondary (Michael knows facts tell, stories sell)
- Simply designed
- Limited customization
- Not a full catalog of products
- Not a very robust explanation of the flex oils or diffuser options
Michael was very helpful in learning how his website was set up. He was also very responsive to any requests I had.
In summary, I think Michael has done a good job of building this site. He has some cool plans for future development. I look forward to seeing what he has in store. I give MyOilSite a grade of A-, primarily because of the lack of a full catalog, other than that I think it is a great site for starting distributors.
